How Do You Choose a Neon Sign Design?

Text-Based Signs

The most popular option. Text signs work well for:

• Names and dates -- "The Johnsons" or "Est. 2024" for weddings
• Short phrases -- "Let's Party" or "Better Together"
• Brand names -- Company name or product name for corporate events
• Hashtags -- Custom event hashtags that drive social sharing

Keep text to 3-4 words maximum. Longer phrases become too large or too small to read at a distance.

Script vs. Block Fonts

Script fonts create an elegant, romantic feel. They are the default choice for weddings and upscale events. The flowing lines look organic against the natural hedge texture.

Block fonts project confidence and modernity. They are popular for corporate events, product launches, and brand activations. The geometric forms contrast sharply with the organic foliage.

Combination styles -- mixing a script word with a block-font word -- can create visual interest but require careful sizing to maintain balance.

Symbol and Icon Signs

Beyond text, consider:

• Hearts and infinity symbols -- Wedding classics
• Company logos -- Requires custom manufacturing based on your vector files
• Arrows and frames -- Decorative elements that surround text or point toward a feature

What Size Neon Sign Fits Your Hedge Wall?

The sign should be proportional to the hedge wall. Here are general guidelines:

• 4x8 ft wall -- Sign should be 2-3 ft wide maximum
• 8x8 ft wall -- Sign can be 3-5 ft wide
• 12x8 ft wall -- Sign can be 4-6 ft wide
• Larger walls -- Consider multiple signs or a single large sign up to 8 ft wide

Leave at least 12 inches of visible hedge on all sides of the sign. The green border frames the neon and creates the contrast that makes the combination work.

What Neon Colors Work Best on a Green Backdrop?

Warm White

The most versatile and most popular choice. Warm white neon looks elegant against green foliage, flatters skin tones in photos, and works with every event color palette.

Blush Pink

Soft pink creates a romantic, warm glow. Extremely popular for weddings and feminine brand events. It pairs beautifully with the green backdrop and adds a subtle warmth to photos.

Cool White

Cooler and more contemporary than warm white. Good for modern corporate events and tech brand activations. Can feel clinical if the lighting is not balanced with warm ambient sources.

Other Colors

Red, blue, yellow, and green neon signs are available but should be used carefully. Bold colors can overpower the hedge backdrop and cast colored light on nearby surfaces and faces. Use them for brand-specific applications where the color is essential to the message.

How Are Neon Signs Mounted to Hedge Walls?

Direct Mount

Neon signs are attached directly to the hedge frame using zip ties or mounting clips threaded through the foliage. The mounting hardware is completely hidden behind the leaves. This is the cleanest look and is our recommended approach.

Standoff Mount

For dimensional logos or signs that need to float in front of the hedge, standoff pins create a gap between the sign and the foliage. This produces a subtle shadow effect and gives the sign a three-dimensional presence.

Suspended Mount

For very large or heavy signs, a separate mounting frame behind the hedge wall supports the weight. The hedge panels are installed around and in front of the frame, concealing the structure entirely.

What Power Do Neon Signs Require?

LED neon signs require power. Plan for:

• Outlet proximity -- Where is the nearest power outlet? Extension cords should be concealed behind the hedge wall or routed under floor tape
• Power consumption -- LED neon is very efficient. Most signs draw less than 100 watts. A standard outlet handles multiple signs easily
• Dimming -- Some signs include dimmers. Adjust brightness based on ambient lighting conditions -- brighter for outdoor daytime, dimmer for intimate evening settings
• Battery backup -- For outdoor events without power access, battery-powered LED neon options are available for signs under 4 ft wide

1. Test the lighting -- Set up the sign before the event and view it from multiple angles and distances
2. Photograph it -- Take test photos with your phone to check how the sign renders on camera
3. Consider timing -- Neon signs have the most impact as natural light fades. Plan your photo op for golden hour or evening
4. Add uplighting -- Base uplights on the hedge wall enhance the green texture and add depth behind the neon glow
